DESCRIPTION:St John the Baptist\, Tolland will once again mark Good Friday
 \, 18th April\, with a\nservice of three hours of devotion from 12 noon un
 til 3pm led by Maureen and Jill\nCanney.\nYou may have read in a previous 
 issue of the magazine \nthat our Bishop Michael Beasley is calling for us 
 all to \nmake 2026 a year with special focus on prayer. He is \nhoping tha
 t together we can all grow in our experience\, \nunderstanding\, insight a
 nd practice.\nHe admits praying is not necessarily easy and it doesn’t \
 njust happen. However learning from others does help \nand what better way
  to start than coming along\, for as \nshort or long a time as you wish\, 
 to the three hours of \nmusic\, meditation and prayer on Good Friday at St
  John \nthe Baptist\, Tolland.\nThis year we have a theme of Peace and wil
 l be contemplating the Beatitudes from Jesus’s Sermon on the Mount and\,
  given today’s global challenges\, uncertainties and inequalities\, they
  are still so relevant. There will also be music from the Taize Community 
 at Cluny\, France and from Karl Jenkin’s The Peacemakers.\nAs previously
  we will start and finish the three hours with prayer. We will then play a
  piece of music each quarter hour followed by a beatitude and then silent 
 meditation or prayer of your own\,\nDo not feel you have to stay for the w
 hole three hours. You can join at any point and stay for as long or short 
 a time as you wish. It’s an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of thi
 s important day in the Christian calendar before the wonderful celebration
  of Easter
