It is with great sadness that the Clergy and the P.C.C have had to make the very difficult decision to temporarily postpone all Church services.

We were hoping to still continue with weekly Sunday Mass in Church. However we feel that with the rapid spread of the new variant, the current national lockdown, and prospect of the vaccination roll-out, that we currently need to exercise caution for now and not meet in person. This will hopefully help to keep our Church, congregation and clergy as safe as possible.

This will be reviewed on 9th February 2021, when a decision will be made about whether it is possible to recommence worship. The restart of services will be based upon whether the lockdown is having a positive impact on reducing the rates of infection so that we feel it is safe to welcome everyone back into Church (with the appropriate social distancing measures, face masks, hand sanitising, and track and trace registration in place).

We are very regretful about having to make this decision but feel it is the responsible thing to do in order to protect our community.

Although there will not be a service in the church building, every Sunday Rev Kat will lead the Service of the Word which will begin at 10.30 am. Please see the St Matthew’s Facebook page or weekly email for the Zoom code. It will also be streamed on the St Matthew’s Church YouTube channel.

Please note, the foodbank will still continue to operate to serve our local community on Saturday mornings, between 9-11 am. Food donations can be dropped off and food collections will still be available. Please wear a mask if coming to the foodbank.
