"However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me – the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace." Acts 20:24
It’s easy to begin something new. Maybe it’s a new diet or exercise programme, a new job, or a new relationship with someone special. There is always a sense of excitement about a new beginning. But life isn’t a 50-yard dash; it’s a marathon. The trick is not just to begin well, but to finish well.
None of us want give up half way through the race. Paul did not want that to happen to the elders in Ephesus. He wanted them, just as we want for ourselves, to sprint across the finish line - but to do that we need to have endurance through faith- which takes practice and focus. What an amazing sense of achievement and joy we will feel when we finally finish the race.
