Daily Scripture:

‘Before me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me. I, I am the Lord, and besides me there is no saviour..’ (Isaiah 43, 10-1)

Daily Reflection:

Tuesday 1st December

Christians believe that there is only one true God – the God who came down to earth, was born as a human baby, and became the Saviour of the world. We celebrate the birth of Jesus at Christmas and his resurrection at Easter, because we recognise the true sovereignty of the only God who ever ransomed Himself on our behalf. No "deity" has ever done such a thing before or after Jesus. In giving Himself up to, and overcoming death for us, He earned the name “Saviour”. What do we need saving from? In short, ourselves. Paul the apostle says that there is no one who is perfect, and if that is true, then we are all flawed in some way, and need saving. In Acts 4 v 12 we read “And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” He is the Lord, our only Saviour and our true hope.
