Daily Scripture

"1 The heavens are telling the glory of God;

and the firmament proclaims his handiwork.

2 Day to day pours forth speech,

and night to night declares knowledge." (Psalm 19:1-2)

Daily Reflection

In this Psalm, King David’s mediation takes him from “creation” to “salvation”; it does so via “God’s word” (the scriptures) and a recognition of his own sinfulness. If you want to know about God: look around at the incredible display in nature! Look up to the heavens on a cloudless night; look at the intricate beauty of a flower when you go for a walk. That intricacy, that orderliness, that beauty, that vastness is the result of God’s work. To think otherwise means it is all a result of chance. As you go for a walk (maintaining social distancing!), open your eyes and see the beauty; see God revealing himself through nature. As you do so, learn about God’s power and recognise our own smallness and finiteness. And thank God.
