Church of England Diocese of Canterbury Sittingbourne Saint Mary and Saint Michael

About Us

Vicar: Rev. Lesley Jones

The church was consecrated on Saturday 25th January 1902.   Initially St. Mary's Church served an area of the parish of Holy Trinity, Milton Regis, an area to the north of what is now the A2 and which saw many houses being built to provide for the many workers attracted to the town by employment in the local Brick and Paper industries.

On Tuesday 28th July 1925, a proclamation was made in the London Gazette establishing St. Mary's as a separate parish.

In 2000 the parish returned to a United Benefice. However, on this occasion it was not returned to Holy Trinity, Milton, but joined with St. Michael the Archangel Sittingbourne. St. Mary's and St. Michael's is now one Parish, in the Team Ministry of Sittingbourne with Bobbing.

St. Mary's is built in the main of red brick which gives an indication of the warmth to be found within.  The visitor will sense the warmth and love that has marked over a century of worship and witness.
