DESCRIPTION:This community\, like many rural communities throughout the UK
 \, had horses\, mules\, even donkeys requisitioned for war service in WW1.
 \n\nThe Animals in War Group\, Carlisle generously donated a plaque made o
 f Lakeland slate that has been secured to the museum wall.\n\nBishop John 
 will dedicate the plaque.\n\nWe joined in with the International Animals i
 n War initiative in 2024 on the 24th of February. Bishop John who lives in
  the parish led us in a short service to reconise the day\, the residents 
 from Bewcastle who served in animal-associated regiments and the animals f
 rom this community.
