 many rural communities throughout the UK\, had horses\, mules\, even donke
 ys requisitioned for war service in WW1.\n\nThe Animals in War Group\, Car
 lisle generously donated a plaque made of Lakeland slate that has been sec
 ured to the museum wall.\n\nBishop John will dedicate the plaque.\n\nWe jo
 ined in with the International Animals in War initiative in 2024 on the 24
 th of February. Bishop John who lives in the parish led us in a short serv
 ice to reconise the day\, the residents from Bewcastle who served in anima
 l-associated regiments and the animals from this community.
