DESCRIPTION:An evening of meditations and music by poet and cellist Kennet
h Wilson. Free with retiring collection.\nThere are seven meditative poems
\, interleaved with the Sarabandes from Bach’s Six Suites for Solo Cello
. The work is framed by other music at the beginning and the end – somet
imes\, but not always\, more Bach.\n\nThe Seven Last Words refers to the s
hort utterances attributed to Jesus on the cross. Some of these are well k
 now – “My God\, my God\, why have you forsaken me?”\, “I thirst\,
” and “It is finished.” Taken together they form a meaningful and ch
allenging commentary on the human condition in its final analysis.\n\nTrad
itionally the Church reflects on these sayings during the six weeks of Len
t\, leading up to Easter. Kenneth will be performing the Seven Last Words
Meditation in about thirty churches in Lent 2024. We are privileged to cou
 nt St Aidans among them.
