It is with a heavy heart that I write to inform you that the PCC has taken the decision to cease holding acts of public worship in St Nicholas Church for the present time. Whilst we believe we have provided an environment that is safe for those who come, we are concerned with the rise in infections in the Wallasey area. The Government and the Church of England are united in the desire to protect people and thereby protect communities. We share that desire and so I hope with all my heart that you understand the decision and support the PCC.
The decision has my support and has been approved by the Archdeacon of Chester. Here is the wording of the application:
<strong><em>"The vicar and the parochial church council of Wallasey St Nicholas with All Saints acting jointly authorise dispensing with the reading of Morning and Evening Prayer as required by Canon B 11 and the celebration of the Holy Communion as required by Canon B 14 on the following occasions:</em></strong>
<strong><em>Sunday 17th January 2021 to Sunday 7th February be reviewed on Wednesday 10th February 2021.</em></strong>
<strong><em>The reason for the dispensation is that in the light of the Government's guidance on preventing the spread of Coronavirus, there is no church in the benefice which can be used safely for public worship on those occasions."</em></strong>
We have agreed to review the decision on Wednesday 10th February in the hope that the situation has improved enough for us to once again open our doors to welcome you back into St Nicholas. The Sunday following is Valentines Day, what a wonderful day to get back into Church, if it proves to be safe to do so.
For the time being, then, our services will be zoomed from the Vicarage on Sunday morning at 10am; Sunday evening at 6pm; Wednesday morning at 10am. Details of the oom links will be posted in the January 2021 heading and on our Newsletter. I hope you will join us so that we can worship together and support one another in these difficult and trying days. Our first zoom from the Vicarage will be on Sunday 17th at 10am, do have your piece of bread and sip of wine to hand.
If any of you have any questions or would just like a chat please give me a call on 07906067325.
May God bless us and sustain us.
