Church opening update

You may have heard that church buildings are able to be unlocked again from 15th Jun. As lockdown is beginning to ease I thought I’d give you all an update of where things stand at the moment.

Visiting Church

Churches are permitted to open their doors again for private prayer from 15th June. There is a long list of precautions we need to take, and visitors will obviously need to take care in what they touch. It will vary from church to church as to whether and when the doors are unlocked, but we are working on this. There will be updates on the app to let you know.

Sunday Services

We are not yet allowed to meet again on Sundays, so our worship remains online, on both YouTube and Zoom, for the time being. I am anticipating that we will be able to begin services in church again sometime in July, and so are preparing for that. It is unlikely that we will be able to have services every week in each parish once this does happen, and there will be many who will still be shielding. For these reasons, online services will be continuing in some form for those who need them.

Funerals

From Monday 15th we are able to have funeral services in church again, but with strict guidelines on social distancing. This will be communicated to families and attendance will be by invitation only so that we know that we can have a safe number present.

Weddings and Baptisms

We are still unable to do either of these, but will let people know as soon as we can.

I hope that helps bring you up to date. I hope to see you soon, whenever that may be,

Ian.
