Everything in our culture tells us that Christmas is a joyful season: friends, family, food, and gifts all encourage us to celebrate Christmas. But for many, Christmas can be a painful reminder of life’s difficulties, especially during the current restrictions.
At St James’, we want to recognise that sometimes life is hard, particularly at Christmas, so as from December 1st, we have a dedicated tree outside to hang a bauble on to represent a loved one or situation. There will also be an online When Christmas Hurts Reflection with a few of the quieter more gentle carols for those who would appreciate a quieter Christmas.
Revelation ch21 v4 “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death” or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.’
p.s. The ‘When Christmas Hurts Tree’ is at the crossroads of the church footpaths. Please hang your bauble safely and securely without hurting the tree or yourself!
