What a memorable day, and one that people are unlikely to forget for so many reasons.
Although such a sad occasion, the sun was shining and evidence of spring was in abundance. The flowers gathered by friends and caringly made into floral tributes looked wonderful and Pat was clearly delighted by them, saying that they were so fitting for John.
The number of friends who lined the streets through the village from Derwent Lane to Sheffield Road was overwhelming, and Pat drew tremendous strength and comfort from seeing so many people who had come to pay their respects to John. Paul the funeral director just kept saying that he'd never seen anything like it before!
Rev Richard Walton spoke from a personal friendship with John, and although there were only five people present, God's presence was evident at this simple service.
Please continue to pray for Pat as she adjusts to life without John.
