Between April and July 2020 Glossopdale Foodbank provided 16,947 meals in food parcels to 1,454 adults and 735 children. As well as distributing food parcels from Children’s Centres in Glossop, Gamesley and Hadfield (run twice weekly by Foodbank volunteers for two-hour sessions for the collection of food parcels) and from the Pantry in Gamesley, the Foodbank delivered parcels to people who are housebound or self-isolating.

An example of the support offered by Glossopdale Foodbank: A client with significant mobility issues was referred by the Citizens Advice Bureau for home delivery of food parcels. As a result of a reduction in benefits, the client was in hardship. The Foodbank arranged to deliver parcels weekly to the client’s house and referred the client to Community Navigators at the Bureau to identify what additional support the client might access.

To continue to provide food parcels to vulnerable individuals and households in our community, Glossopdale Foodbank currently needs the full range of non-perishable items. The following items are particularly needed:
• treats such as chocolate, luxury packets of biscuits, luxury jams
• tinned vegetables (peas, carrots, potatoes, mixed vegetables, sweetcorn
• tinned tomatoes
• tinned beans (kidney beans, pinto beans)
• tinned rice pudding
• tinned custard
• tinned fruit
• pasta sauces
• tinned meat meals (stewing steak)
• one-pot pasta meals with sauce that can be microwaved
• toiletries (soap, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner)
