Church of England Diocese of Derby Smisby

Coronavirus update - January 2021

7 Jan 2021, 4:20 p.m.

Although the lock down rules allow churches to remain open for worship the Parochial Church Council (PCC) has decided that to do so would entail too much risk to individuals. The PCC has therefore resolved to close the parish church as from today and the Rector will be informing the Bishop of this. The other three parishes in the Benefice are taking the same action.

The PCC has not taken the decision lightly and many people will be saddened by this, but we live in exceptional times and must all do what we can to keep safe and well. The PCC will keep this decision under review but at the moment we cannot say when the church will reopen.

Please contact the Rector on 01332 864741 if you need to discuss wedding or funeral arrangements.
