DESCRIPTION:All are very welcome to join us for a service of Holy Communio
n to mark the Wednesday of Holy Week. \n\nWhen Jesus had thus said\, he wa
 s troubled in spirit\, and testified\, and said\, Verily\, verily\, I say
unto you\, that one of you shall betray me. Then the disciples looked one
on another\, doubting of whom he spake. Now there was leaning on Jesus' bo
som one of his disciples\, whom Jesus loved. Simon Peter therefore beckone
d to him\, that he should ask who it should be of whom he spake. He then l
ying on Jesus' breast saith unto him\, Lord\, who is it? Jesus answered\,
He it is\, to whom I shall give a sop\, when I have dipped it. And when he
had dipped the sop\, he gave it to Judas Iscariot\, the son of Simon. \n\
 n(John 13:21-26\, King James Version)\n\nThe Collect of the Day:\n\nAlmigh
ty and everlasting God\, who\, of thy tender love towards mankind\, hast s
ent thy Son\, our Saviour Jesus Christ\, to take upon him our flesh\, and
to suffer death upon the cross\, that all mankind should follow the exampl
e of his great humility\; Mercifully grant\, that we may both follow the e
 xample of his patience\, and also be made partakers of his resurrection\;
through the same Jesus Christ our Lord.\n\nAlmighty and everlasting God\,
who hatest nothing that thou hast made and dost forgive the sins of all th
em that are penitent\; Create and make in us new and contrite hearts\, tha
t we\, worthily lamenting our sins\, and acknowledging our wretchedness\,
may obtain of thee\, the God of all mercy\, perfect remission and forgiven
ess\; through Jesus Christ our Lord.\n\nAmen.\n\nThe Post Communion:\n\nO
Lord and heavenly Father\, we thy humble servants entirely desire thy fath
erly goodness mercifully to accept this our sacrifice of praise and thanks
giving\; most humbly beseeching thee to grant\, that by the merits and dea
th of thy Son Jesus Christ\, and through faith in his blood\, we and all t
hy whole Church may obtain remission of our sins\, and all other benefits
of his passion. And here we offer and present unto thee\, O Lord\, ourselv
es\, our souls and bodies\, to be a reasonable\, holy\, and lively sacrifi
ce unto thee\; humbly beseeching thee\, that all we\, who are partakers of
this holy Communion\, may be fulfilled with thy grace and heavenly benedi
ction. And although we be unworthy\, through our manifold sins\, to offer
unto thee any sacrifice\, yet we beseech thee to accept this our bounden d
uty and service\; not weighing our merits\, but pardoning our offences\, t
hrough Jesus Christ our Lord\; by whom\, and with whom\, in the unity of t
he Holy Ghost\, all honour and glory be unto thee\, O Father Almighty\, wo
rld without end. \n\nAmen.\n\nDurham Diocesan Prayer Cycle Deanery Intenti
