 rge. Bells have rung out over Staindrop for hundreds of years as the voice
  of the church speaking to the\ncommunity. six new bells were presented to
  the church in 1787. In 1925\, those bells were recast and augmented from 
 6 to 8 bells. The old oak beams were replaced with steel and the bells hun
 g in a new iron frame. 100 years ago\, in April 1925\, the\nrecast and new
  bells were blessed by the Bishop of Durham. Today they will be rededicate
 d in a short service followed by a peal attempt.
