Church of England Diocese of Durham Bishopwearmouth St. Nicholas

Re-opening for private prayer

14 Jun 2020, 2 p.m.

We are busy making preparations to open the church building for private prayer from this week. We will be open Tuesdays 10am-12noon and Sundays 2-4pm. **This is for private prayer only.**

A one-way ststem will be in place in the building. You will need to come in through the main entrance on Queen Alexandra Drive and exit by the doors from the carpark. There will be no entry from the carpark, except, for obvious reasons, for wheelchair access.

Doors will be pinned open. You will be asked to clean your hands on arrival and departure, and to maintain spatial distancing at all times. On arriving, there will be the opportunity to light a candle should you so wish.

The chairs have been rearranged in order to provide seating at the necessary distance, but with the provision for two people from one household to sit together. You may be directed where to sit. Chairs will be cleaned each time they are vacated. We ask that you do not move the chairs.

Parts of the building, including the font, choir and chancel, and Lady Chapel remain closed off for now. We regret that our toilets remain closed.

For now, public worship is still prohibited, and we continue to worship on Thursday and Sunday mornings via Zoom. We thank you for your patience and cooperation as we make cautious steps forward. All plans are under continual assessment, and subject to change.
