Suspension of public worship at St Nicholas’ Church, A690/Queen Alexandra Road

Dear friends,

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement on Monday evening, taking us back into a national full lockdown, the Parochial Church Council has considered our response. While, at this time, public worship is legally permitted to carry on, we conclude that to do so would not be in the best public interest. Therefore, we have sought and received the Bishop’s dispensation to close the building and suspend public worship for the rest of January (subject to our review).

While our building is closed, I shall continue to provide a weekly Service of the Word, at 10.30am on Sunday mornings, which will be livestreamed via the church Facebook page:

The order of service is available to download and print at:

The PCC are very aware that having to stay at home can increase the unwelcome feeling of isolation, and wish to ensure that, together, we do all we can to mitigate against that. To this end, various measures will be in place. These include, for those who use Zoom, the opportunity to connect with others for social contact on Thursday mornings from 10.00am (Meeting ID 191 376 132) and shortly after the Sunday morning services (Meeting ID 664 485 330). Passcodes required, available on request. We appreciate that this is not a solution that works for everyone, but is part of a wider offer.

We continue to be available to the community, and hold you in prayer.
