Church of England Diocese of Ely Gamlingay with Hatley St. George and East Hatley

Coronavirus Updates - 16/01/2021- Messages from Benefice Church Leadership & Rev'd Hilary Young

We at St Mary's Gamlingay with Hatley St George and East Hatley would like to reassure everyone that we are following the guidelines set for us by the Church of England with regards to the current situation with the coronavirus(Covid-19).

We are now in Lockdown 3, sadly Hilary and the PCC have decided to discontinue services in church and reduced the use of the church building for private prayer. With immediate effect the church will only be open on Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and Sundays from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Please continue to observe the social distancing rules, stay 2 metres apart and wear a face covering when appropriate.

Thank you for your continued support.

Services in Churches

Services will no longer be available in church but will still be transmitted live from church and available via Zoom.

Services will be re-introduced as and when they can be safely conducted and human resources allow. Do be kind to one another (and to me!) as we do our best to look after each other and ourselves. We are the body of Christ. Our buildings are precious, they mean a great deal, but they are not the body nor is God confined in any four walls.

The email address for Zoom login details and prayer requests, [email protected].

Lift up your hearts - we life them up to the Lord!

We have set up a pastoral network so everyone has someone who is looking out for them and ensuring that the pastoral team leaders know what everyone’s situation is. This is not replacing normal friendship communications, but making sure no one slips through the net, and that I (Hilary) don’t remain ignorant of the circumstances of anyone in the church community

Paul's prayer for the church in Ephasus

'I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation as you come to know him, so that, with the eyes of your heart enlightened, you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance among the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power for us who believe, according to the working of his great power.'

If you have anything visual that might be helpful for other members of the church, please get in touch - painters-share your artwork, gardeners, anything beautiful in your garden - I or someone else (keeping social distance!) can come and take pictures, with due regard to guidelines to avoid possible infection-sharing. We can then share them for you if you do not have the technology.

All love and hope in Jesus Christ be with us all.

Further updates will be posted on the News and Updates page and on our Facebook page as soon as they become available.
