Church Closed

<div><div>It is with a heavy heart our Priest in Charge, Rev'd Dr Richard Hines, wrote to our churchwardens as follows:</div></div>

<span style="font-size: 1rem;">"Dear Churchwardens</span>

<div><div>Suspension of Public Worship in Fen Orchards with immediate effect.</div></div>

<span style="font-size: 1rem;">Further to the recent very worrying developments in our area COVID-19 wise and the new Tier 4 Restrictions, it has been very helpful to talk with you all this morning.</span>

<div><div>Thank you for the benefit of your considered thoughts and wisdom as we weighed up the possibility of suspending public worship again for the foreseeable future in the Fen Orchards parishes. </div></div>

<span style="font-size: 1rem;">It is clear that in the light of present worrying circumstances, unanimity exists among us that:</span>

<div><div>(i) we do not go ahead with our planned service at Emneth on Sunday 3rd January; and also that</div></div><div><div>(ii) we confer with our respective PCCs a.s.a.p. before I go ahead early next week and write to Bishop Stephen to request an indefinite suspension of Sunday worship - to be reviewed initially with respect to the planned visit of Bishop Dagmar for our benefice service on 31st January at Friday Bridge and also to Ash Wednesday / The Beginning of Lent on 17th February. "</div></div>

<span style="font-size: 1rem;">( We are consulting our respective PCCs and so far seem to agree wholeheartedly about the need to be socially responsible and set a good example)</span>

<div><div>"This is not an easy thing for us to do, but I am quite sure it's the most responsible contribution we as congregations can make together towards the patient and diligent national effort the PM, the Secretary of State and our Public Health leaders are currently calling for.</div></div>

<span style="font-size: 1rem;">We pray that very soon now vaccinations will be available locally for us all; and also, that the newly-announced measures will be successful in suppressing transmission of the new mutant and highly transmissible strain of the virus.</span>

<div><div>I look forward to hearing from you in due course.</div></div>

<span style="font-size: 1rem;">Once again, my sincere thanks to you all.</span>

<div><div>May God sustain and guide us during these demanding days</div></div>
