An Advent Prayer

Lord as we prepare to celebrate once more the birth of Christ, help us to know that we are not just recalling on moment of history:- we are acknowledging your presence as an indwelling power. Fill our lives with the light of your reason and the warmth of your love. May we find you in our fellows and may they find you in us, for Jesus sake. Amen.

May we who have strength share with those who are weak;

may we who have joys share with those who have sorrows;

may we who have friends share with those who are lonely;

may we who had laughter share with those who have tears.

May we who enjoy security share with those who suffer persecution;

may we who enjoy freedom share with those who suffer imprisonment;

may we who enjoy comfort share with those who suffer hardship;

may we who enjoy peace share with those who suffer war.

May we who have love share with those who are unloved;

may we who have purpose share with those who are drifting;

may we who have faith share with those who are without hope;

may we who have all things share with those who have nothing;

For in sharing we both give and receive, growing together as one family in the knowledge and love of our Father God. Amen.
