Hello to you all!
This isn't the way that I hoped to introduce myself but I wanted to write a few words so you can get to know me a little better and so I can say how pleased and happy I am to be supporting all that the team is doing here in Matson.
As I am also Vicar of St Barnabas on the Stroud Road, my role here is going to have a "light touch" because you are in such safe hands already. Adrian, John, Gordon, Pam, the PCC and admin team are doing an amazing job and I am so grateful for them for their day to day ministry. However I am here to pray for and support them, the church family and the wider community. It is also a privilege to be praying for and supporting Andy Wilson, our Church Army Officer here in Matson.
So a bit about me. I am a Gloucester girl through and through, my dad played rugby for Tredworth (I know!) and Gloucester. My mum moved to Gloucester at a very young age and grew up in Coney Hill and Longlevens. I grew up in Churchdown which isn't too far from Gloucester, but had and still have many family members in the City. I spent happy times in Matson growing up as my Aunt and Uncle lived here for many years.
Before becoming a minister, I was a musician working in the community, schools and churches and I still like to have a sing and play the piano when I have a moment or two. I am married to Ian and we have four children aged between 14 and 25. My days off (when not in lockdown) could see me walking with the dog and Ian in the beautiful countryside that is all around, spending time with family, meeting good friends, practising the piano, doing a bit of family history or going for a swim.
I love finding out more about God, faith and life especially with other people so I look forward to meeting you all as soon as I can. My prayers are with you all at this challenging time and I look forward to exploring together where God is leading Matson in the months and years ahead.
God bless and stay safe
