Church of England Diocese of Gloucester Twyning

A letter from Father Ron, 6th November

6 Nov 2020, 8 p.m.

Dear All

I expect you are all aware from the press, radio and television that communal worship has to be put on hold again. So there will be no Sunday morning Service until we get into December. But at least this time the Church can be left open during the day for private prayer. As I did during the last lockdown, I will continue to be in my stall at 9.30am on Sunday to pray for the parish. I gather I wasn't supposed to be doing even that last time but I also understood the Archbishop to be giving guidance rather than orders!

On Remembrance Sunday, I will ensure that the names on the Church Memorial are read and honoured in prayer. The Village commemoration will go ahead but in a reduced format and only a small number should attend. Details of this were in my last newsletter and are now available at the village memorial. It is entirely against my nature to discourage people from attending but needs must. There will be coverage of other memorial events on the radio/television and online you will find recorded Services from Tewkesbury Abbey( & the Gloucester Diocese(

Obviously I can't visit you but let's try and keep in touch by email or phone. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any kind of assistance.

In the meantime take good care of yourselves and God bless.
