DESCRIPTION:ADVENT\nA new Church year begins today\, the First Sunday of A
 dvent. Advent is a season of expectation and preparation\, as the Church p
 repares to celebrate the coming (adventus) of Christ in his incarnation\, 
 and also looks ahead to his final advent as judge at the end of time. We a
 re encouraged to cultivate a sense of ‘alert watchfulness’ although th
 e anticipation of Christmas under commercial pressure makes this quite cha
 llenging. In the northern hemisphere\, the Advent season falls at the dark
 est time of the year\, and the natural symbols of darkness and light are p
 owerfully at work throughout the four weeks of the Season. We light candle
 s on an Advent wreath in remembrance of faith ancestors who were also watc
 hing in anticipation for the coming of the Messiah.\n\nMASS SETTING \nMiss
