DESCRIPTION:We have at St Martin’s\, Barholm with Stowe limited occasion
 s to celebrate Holy Communion together in our church building. \nUsually\,
  this opportunity is only when there is a fifth Sunday in the month.\n\nTh
 e exception to this is on Thursday May 29th at 7pm when\, we will celebrat
 e Holy Communion together for:\n\nThe Feast of the Ascension of Our Lord J
 esus Christ\n\nAscension Day is the 40th day of Easter\, it occurs 39 days
  after Easter Sunday and is one of the earliest Christian festivals dating
  back to 68AD.  \n \nWe read in the New Testament that Jesus Christ met se
 veral times with His disciples during the 40 days after His resurrection t
 o instruct them on how to carry out His teachings.  \n\nOn the day of His 
 ascension\, Jesus commissions His disciples to continue His work. He promi
 ses the gift of the Holy Spirit\, and then He is no longer among them in t
 he flesh. The Ascension is therefore closely connected with the theme of m
 ission.  \n \nThis season of joy and brightness is represented in our use 
 of white or gold liturgical decorations and vestments. \n\nIncense will be
  used during this service.
