 radition of Evensong from the Book of Common Prayer (BCP) 1662 at St Marti
 n's Church here in Barholm.\n\nThis evening we will have David and James w
 elcoming you at the porch door\, they will give you everything you need to
  enjoy the service\; Hymn Book\, Order of Service and a Pew Sheet.\n\nThe 
 heart of Evensong is the reading of Scripture. \n\nFr Aran will lead the R
 esponsorial Psalm\, David Brown taking the First Lesson from the Old Testa
 ment and Anne Knox taking the New Testament Lesson.\n\nThe service that su
 rrounds it is intended to prepare us to hear God’s word and to be able t
 o respond to it with praise. \n\nIts traditional or archaic language may h
 elp us to put aside the pressures of our lives as we enter into a traditio
 n that has sustained Christians in England since the 17th Century.\n\nIf y
 ou are new to this style of worship or unfamiliar with the language\, then
  let us put you at ease. We have tried to include in our Order of Service 
 sufficient instructions to help you take part in the service\, alternative
 ly if you’d rather sit and listen then you’re very welcome to be still
  and let the music and words wash over you.\n\nHowever you join in\, we pr
 ay that you sense the presence and love of God.
