DESCRIPTION:The Feast of the Ascension of Our Lord Jesus Christ\n\nAscensi
on Day is the 40th day of Easter\, it occurs 39 days after Easter Sunday a
nd is one of the earliest Christian festivals dating back to 68AD. \n \nW
e read in the New Testament that Jesus Christ met several times with His d
isciples during the 40 days after His resurrection to instruct them on how
to carry out His teachings. \n\nOn the day of His ascension\, Jesus comm
issions His disciples to continue His work. He promises the gift of the Ho
ly Spirit\, and then He is no longer among them in the flesh. The Ascensio
n is therefore closely connected with the theme of mission. \n \nThis sea
son of joy and brightness is represented in our use of white or gold litur
gical decorations and vestments. \n\nIncense will be used during this serv
 ice.
