Church of England Diocese of Lincoln Tallington

A Message & Pew Sheet for the Uffington Group of Churches commencing Sunday 26th September, 2021

Sunday 26th September – 17th Sunday after Trinity

There will be two services in our villages this Sunday:

· 9amHoly Communion (Traditional) in the Church of St Thomas, Greatford

· 11am - Holy Communion in the Church of St Michael & All Angels, Uffington

Printed copies of the pew sheets attached will be available in both churches, if you are not attending you may want to reflect privately on what others in our parishes and wider diocese are reading on Sunday.

‘Songs of Celebration’ on Sunday 26th September at 6pm - St Andrew’s Church in West Deeping are opening their doors to see the benefits offered by the new facilities to our community - This is not a church service ... more a celebration with singing ... followed by light refreshments ... everyone is very welcome: please come along! Please note the change of start time to 6pm!

Please feel free to pass this message (and the attachments) to anyone you think might wish to receive it - requests to be added to the distribution list remain very welcome (but should be from the individual concerned for privacy and data protection reasons); conversely, should you no longer wish to receive this weekly communication please e-mail me accordingly.

Kind regards,

Carole

A short message from Fr Aran

With the aim of summarising much news from the Diocese I draw your attention to two items. Please speak to me if you have any comments or questions about anything that is going on.

Have your say - The Next Bishop of Lincoln

Wheels are in motion for finding the next Bishop of Lincoln. There’s a survey that you can fill in if you would like to share your view. Click this link Survey or look at the Lincoln Diocese website for more information. The Deanery of Stamford (The area that we are part of) is sending their comments. This means that representatives from our Parishes have made a start to share their views. I’m sure you have views so now is the time to share them to influence the recruitment process.

Lincoln Diocese – A Time to Change together

All Parish PCCs (The Council that runs each Church with me) have been asked to describe their Church as part of the planning to help us run all our Churches and support what we are doing locally. This is part of the RSC process that the Diocese has sent out a lot of information about. All of the information is here (A time to Change together on the Diocesan Website) if you want to get more involved. Our first draft suggests that:

St Martin Barholm with Stowe, St Thomas’ Greatford, St Lawrence Tallington and St Faith Wilsthorpe, are Type 4 - Celebration and Festival Church – Type 4 (with some striving to be Type 3).

St Margaret Braceborough & St Andrew West Deeping are striving to be a Type 3 - Community Church.

St Michael’ Uffington is Type 2 - Local Mission Church.

Of course, this doesn’t make much sense without looking at the website or the Church Notice boards, but I hope it shows you that we are doing a lot of work behind the scenes to help support all we do together.
