 ys after Easter Sunday and is one of \nthe earliest Christian festivals da
 ting back to 68AD.  \n \nWe read in the New Testament\, that Jesus Christ 
 \nmet several times with His disciples during the 40 \ndays after His resu
 rrection to instruct them on how\nto carry out His teachings.  \n \nOn the
  day of His ascension\, Jesus commissions His disciples to continue His wo
 rk. He promises the gift\nof the Holy Spirit\, and then He is no longer am
 ong\nthem in the flesh.  \n \nThe Ascension is therefore closely connected
  with\nthe theme of mission.  \n \nThis season of joy and brightness is re
 presented in\nour use of white or gold liturgical decorations and vestment
 s. \n\nIncense will be used during this service and Holy Communion will be
  celebrated.
