A message from Rev'd Martin for prayers & 'in church' worship w/c Sunday 27th September
I attach a prayer leaflet for Sunday and the coming week to help continue the fellowship of prayer while gathering for worship remains restricted. By way of a change this week, the prayers are based on the Prayer for the Church Militant here in Earth (from the Book of Common Prayer) as Sunday’s service at Greatford is based on the traditional service of the Book of Common Prayer.
As ever, any specific requests for inclusion in future leaflet would be welcome by Friday evening.
There is just one service on Sunday 27th September:
• Holy Communion at 9am at St Thomas of Canterbury, Greatford; those wishing to attend must notify Carole ([email protected] or telephone/text 07484 201413) in advance and wear face coverings.
The service will also be Harvest Thanksgiving; this year donations of non-perishables for the Stamford Food Bank would be welcome – particularly tins of ham, meat, fish, carrots, peas, vegetables, rice pudding, instant mash or sponge puddings; as well as long-life milk and toiletries.
The “rule of six” does not prevent more than six people worshipping in church – but you should not arrive (or sit) with six other people (unless they are part of your household!).
There will be a service of Holy Communion in Uffington Church at 11am on Tuesday 29th September (Michaelmas Day – the festival of St Michael & All Angels – the patronal festival of Uffington Parish Church). All are welcome – though those wishing to attend should notify Carole (as above) by Monday evening.
Services currently planned in October are:
• Sunday 4th October
9am, Holy Communion at St Faith's, Wilsthorpe (anticipating St Faith’s Day – 6th October).
11am, Morning Service via Zoom.
6pm, Evening Prayer at St Martin’s, Barholm.
• Sunday 11th October
9am, Holy Communion at St Lawrence of Rome, Tallington.
11am, Harvest Thanksgiving with Holy Communion at St Michael & All Angel’s Uffington.
• Sunday 18th October
9am, Holy Communion at St Margaret of Antioch, Braceborough.
11am, Morning Service via Zoom.
• Sunday 25th October
9am, Holy Communion at St Thomas of Canterbury, Greatford.
Details for accessing the Zoom services will be circulated nearer the relevant dates.
Covid-19 precautions require that attendance at any services in church must be notified in advance (email Carole: [email protected] or telephone/text 07484 201413) to ensure that attendance is within the safe limit, to arrange seating and for any possible NHS Test & Trace requirements.
All those attending services in our churches are asked to respect social distancing guidelines. Face coverings must be worn in places of worship unless you are not able to put on, wear or remove a face covering because of a physical or mental illness or impairment, or disability; children under the age of 11 are also exempt. Disposable facemasks are available from the sidespeople on the day.
In accordance with current Church of England guidance, Communion will be administered in only one kind (ie the bread, the Blessed Sacrament).
Wishing you every blessing and good health in the coming weeks.
