DESCRIPTION:Alleluia! Christ is Risen! More powerful words have probably
not been uttered across time. It is the call to the faithful. The response
? A resounding He is Risen Indeed! Alleluia! This Holy Week and into the s
eason of Easter has been truly wonderful. There were services provided acr
oss the Benefice for those who felt called to mark Holy Week in a special
way. It is something of a tradition for me now to say I cannot really put
into words how I feel on Easter morning\, following the events of Maundy T
hursday and the arrest of Jesus\, the pain and suffering of Good Friday an
d the hollowness of Holy Saturday. All of those seem to pass into memory f
or a while to be replaced by the wonder of the resurrection. The joy begin
s early in the morning\, gathering at the 6am dawn service to roll the st
one away from our Easter garden\, to light the bonfire and to sing Thine b
e the glory\, accompanied by the dawn chorus of the birds in the trees. An
d the lighting of the Paschal Candle at our Easter morning services where
we should be making a joyful noise\, tambourines\, anything percussive rea
lly (with the occasional dropped tambourine during the service (once or tw
ice!)). And as if we all were not blessed enough as an Easter people\, Ale
x stepped forward to be baptised during the service at All Saints. Yes\, w
e are an Easter people\, and it is through the pains\, scars\, joys and wo
nders of the Easter story that we are born as Christian people. Ascension
and Pentecost are to come and they will help us to deepen and confirm our
faith as followers of the Risen Christ. Enough words for today\, I finish
with a resounding\, Alleluia! Christ is Risen! (You know what to say!!).
