HOLY TRINITY CHURCH, FORMBY NEWSLETTER 25.04.2020
“Then beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them all the things about himself in all the scriptures” (Luke 24:27).
Broken hearts become hearts that burn after an encounter with Jesus. God in Jesus, rarely appears in the way we expected him to (or want him to, for that matter); often-time it is when the storm is at its worst and our fear is deepest. “For there is no resurrection without Golgotha, No freedom without Gethsemane. No Christmas Eve without Good Friday” (Murray Andrew Pura).
The man, hidden from Cleopas and his companion because of their grief, unfolds scripture to them, making sense of the story so far, but it is only in the breaking of the bread, a moment celebrated in the depiction in the tiles behind the communion table at St Michael and All Angels, that these two recognise Jesus.
Maybe you are feeling absence of such communion now. We surely look forward to the day when we will be able to celebrate Jesus’ Easter victory together in Church, but till then our communion need not be broken, with Jesus or each other, as we encourage each other with the news that the Lord is risen indeed. A Prayer for us all:
We praise you and we bless you,
our risen Lord Jesus, for you are with us.
Walk alongside us when we feel sad and alone,
open our eyes to your companionship,
that our hearts might burn within in us
in the knowledge of your presence with us today.

SUPPORTING THE MISSION AND MINISTRY OF OUR CHURCH WITH OUR MONEY
If you've been used to giving to Church through the plate or the envelope scheme JustGiving is a great way to continue your support whilst the building is closed. Giving now rather than saving up for when the building is open will enable us to honour God by meeting our commitments.
