Church Opening for Private Prayer

17 Jul 2020, 1 a.m.

Dear Friends,

As you will be aware, the Government relaxed regulations to allow churches to be opened for private prayer and the bishops have issued guidance on how this might safely be done.

Accordingly I am pleased to let you know that throughout August, St Michael’s will be open for private prayer once a week on Thursday’s 2pm – 4pm.

By being open at this time we will be able to keep the requirements for cleaning the church manageable. We will review how the arrangements are working towards the end of August in line with any changes in government and church guidance.

If you come to St Michael’s to pray, please will you be careful to observe the notices giving guidance for your safe use of the building. In particular, please:

• use hand sanitiser gel when you both enter and leave the church building. If you don’t have you own, please use the hand sanitiser gel at the entrance of the church.

• please sit in a vacant pew and respect the space of other visitors.

• avoid areas which are cordoned off or blocked.

Someone will be present in church to take your name and telephone number in case we need to contact you.

On the table at the entrance to the church you will find some printed prayer materials, which you may find helpful. If you use one of these, please do not leave it in church but take it with you when you leave.

It is very good news that we are now able to open St Michael’s again, even if for limited purpose only, and we look forward to the time when we can once again worship together in person. Until then, thank you for your understanding and patience.

In the meantime, we will continue to produce a service of worship each week on YouTube on Sunday’s at 11am. Please join us.

With blessings and best wishes.

Rev Andrew Housley
