DESCRIPTION:Hope and Heritage: Advent at Wren's St Bride's\n\nThis year we
mark the 350th anniversary of the day that Christopher Wren's vision for
St Bride's opened for public worship in December 1675 during the season of
Advent.\n\nThe rebuilding of St Bride's Church from the ashes of the Grea
t Fire of London was a triumph of hope over despair.\n\nThis story of rege
neration and renewal reflects the themes of Advent – that time in the ch
urch's calendar when we look towards Christmas and the hope that even in d
 ark\, uncertain times\, light\, love\, and renewal are still possible.\n\n
St Bride's has survived the intervening centuries – enduring the bombing
raids of WWII and the pollution of our modern world – as a beacon of ho
pe for better times for all that enter within its walls.\n\nADMISSION\nThe
service is open to all\, ticketless and free to attend. Doors open at 5pm
and the service lasts approximately 1 hour.\n\nMany of our Advent events
are very busy\; please register to reserve a spot for early admission to t
he church (30 minutes before the event) to avoid disappointment.\n\nWe wil
l hold back 125 places for later admission (15 minutes before the service
starts) via the West Door for those who arrive on the day without registra
tion.\n\nIf you need assistance with this\, please contact the office on 0
 20 7427 0133 or email stb@stbrides.com.\n\nMUSIC\nThe musical and spoken c
ontent for this event will weave together the Advent themes of hope and re
newal with the story of Wren's great masterplan for the rebuilding of St B
ride's and the composers whose music has resounded within its walls since
it opened.\n\nSUPPORT ST BRIDE'S\nSt Bride's is wholly reliant on and deep
ly grateful for the generous support of our visitors and congregation with
out which this service could not happen.\n\nThere will be a retiring colle
ction at the end of the service to support the work\, ministry and music-m
aking of St Bride's and help maintain our magnificent Wren church.\n\nDona
tions can be made by cash or contactless at church or via JustGiving. A do
nation can also be made in advance via EventBrite if you choose to registe
r for early admission to the service.\n\nDo please Gift Aid your donation
if you are eligible which generates an extra 25p in every £1 donated.\n\n
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION\nIf you register for early admission please arrive
30 minutes before the service. Your place may need to be released to other
s queuing if you arrive later than this.
