DESCRIPTION:Our Dawn Service is one of the most evocative and unique event
 s in the yearly calendar enjoyed both by our congregation and tourists vis
 iting London.\n\nIt marks the beginning of a day of celebration of the fea
 st of Easter. It starts with an echo of the darkness and despair of Good F
 riday but quickly moves to an affirmation of the strength of God’s love.
 \n\nThe service is immediately followed by traditional egg-rolling in Flee
 t Street after which a well-deserved breakfast is served back in church.\n
 \nThe service begins at 6:00am in darkness as we sit in vigil and hear the
  record of how God saved his people in ages past.\n\nThe congregation then
  moves to the West Door and a new flame is kindled from which the Easter C
 andle is lit. This new light of Christ is shared amongst the congregation.
 \n\nWe return to the nave to hear a lone voice sing the Exsultet\, the gre
 at Easter song of praise. Light returns to the church\, we reaffirm our fa
 ith and the first communion of Easter is celebrated.\nMusic\n\nThe followi
 ng music will be performed at the service by St Bride’s Choir and Organi
 st.\n\nSetting: Communion Service in C – John Ireland\nAnthem: Now the g
 reen blade riseth – trad French\, arr. Simon Lindley\n\nAfter the servic
 e\, the Verger leads us in procession out on to Fleet Street for egg-rolli
 ng which symbolises both new life and the rolling of the stone from Christ
 ’s tomb. A suitably chocolate-y prize is awarded for the furthest rolled
  egg.\n\nIf you can\, don’t forget to bring your hard-boiled (decorated)
  eggs!\n\nA simple breakfast is then served back in church for all who att
 ended.
