DESCRIPTION:A special late night service sharing in the anticipation of th
 e joy of Christmas and celebrating its message of good news.\n\nBy long-st
 anding tradition\, we begin our 11:30pm service of Midnight Mass on Christ
 mas Eve\, Wednesday 24th December\, by singing the beautiful Austrian caro
 l Silent Night. It sets the tone of the service perfectly: the stillness o
 f the dark night\, and the sense of expectation\, as we prepare for the wo
 nder and the mystery of the birth of Christ two thousand years ago.\n\nADM
 ISSION\nThis service is open to all\, ticketless and free to attend. Regis
 tration is NOT required. The service lasts approximately 1 hour and 15 min
 utes.\n\nMUSIC\nThe communion setting is Haydn’s seasonal "Missa Sancti 
 Nicolai" which returns after a gap of several years.\n\nThe anthem after c
 ommunion will be "Verbum caro factum" est by the early 17th century compos
 er Hans Leo Hassler. This exultant motet in the Venetian style – with th
 e choir dividing into answering groups then reuniting – sets the famous 
 text from St John’s Gospel “And the Word was made flesh\, and dwelt am
 ong us.”\n\nSUPPORT ST BRIDE'S\nThere will be a retiring collection at t
 he end of the service to support the work\, ministry and music-making of S
 t Bride's and help maintain our magnificent Wren church.\n\nSt Bride's is 
 wholly reliant on and deeply grateful for the generous support of our visi
 tors and congregation.\n\nDonations can be made by cash or contactless at 
 church or via JustGiving. A donation can also be made in advance via Event
 Brite if you choose to register for early admission to the service.\n\nDo 
 please Gift Aid your donation if you are eligible which generates an extra
  25p in every £1 donated.\n\nADDITIONAL INFORMATION\nDoors open at 11pm a
 nd the service lasts around 1 hour 15 minutes.
