DESCRIPTION:Christians believe that through the many voices and stories of
the Bible we can hear God speaking to us today. How do we listen? At this
special service we will explore what the Bible means to us and how we use
and understand it: comparing different translations\, thinking about how
we approach difficult or challenging passages and asking how Scripture con
tinues to speak into our lives and our world.\n\nBible Sunday reminds us t
hat we do not read alone. We receive the Scriptures from generations befor
e us and read them alongside Christians throughout the world. Bibles can c
arry their own histories too\, through inscriptions\, names\, notes and me
mories which connect the words of Scripture with the lives of those who ha
ve read and treasured them. Historic Bibles from the St Olave’s archive
will be displayed and we invite you to bring a Bible you use\, treasure or
find inspiration in as we celebrate the Scriptures and their witness to C
hrist at the heart of Christian faith.
