 a solemn and prayerful commemoration of all the faithful departed\, especi
 ally those whose funerals have taken place in our parish during the past y
 ear.\n\nAt this Mass we remember\, by name\, those who have died\, and we 
 also pray for the blessed dead whom parishioners and friends wish to have 
 included in our intercessions. The names are read aloud\, and candles may 
 be lit in their memory as a sign of love\, hope\, and the unbroken bond of
  faith which joins the living and the departed in Christ.\n\nIn the beauty
  of the Requiem Mass we entrust our loved ones to the mercy of God\, who p
 romises life beyond death and light beyond darkness. Together we commend t
 hem to his keeping\, confident that those who sleep in Christ shall rise w
 ith him in glory.
