Easter Sunday Dawn Service

Occuring
for 1 hour, 45 mins
Venue
St Michael and All Angels, Stonebridge
Address
Hillside Stonebridge London, NW10 8LB, United Kingdom

This service remembers the experiences of the first women to go to the tomb to look after the crucified Christ and the wonderful surprise they found. It is a time of bringing new light into our church and our lives, and of cleansing ourselves and rededicating ourselves to our risen Saviour.
We begin our Easter Vigil Service in the churchyard at 06:30, lighting the New Fire and our Paschal Candle for the coming year. As we process into church lighting candles for one another we see the church in the low light of dawn and we commence our readings from the whole Creation Story. As we reach the Gospel, the lights are turned on, the music begins, and we greet each other with joy in the risen Christ.
We process to the font to bless the waters and renew our baptismal vows, concluding with the First Eucharist of Easter. This is a joyful and moving service.
