New Heating System for St Andrew’s

Following our application to the Diocesan Advisory Committee we have been advised that a recommendation will be made to the Diocesan Chancellor for a faculty to be granted enabling us to undertake the following work:-

1. Removal of the ‘Nor Ray Vac’ heating system with all its component electrical and other ancillary parts currently installed at St Andrew’s Church, Chadwick Road, Eccles. Disposal of the items to be left to the discretion of the PCC and Wardens; any proceeds from the sale of parts to be used towards the installation

of a new heating system.

2. Removal and disposal of 6 original cast iron radiators located at floor level; proceeds of their sale to be used towards the installation of a new heating system.

3. Removal and disposal of cast iron piping in the south aisle and some cast iron fittings in the north aisle. The radiators in 13 of the 14 clerestory windows and the two in the west windows will remain in place

4. Removal and disposal of an electrical radiant heater in the Memorial Chapel, a similar heater in the lower vestry, and two electrical fan heaters in the upper vestry.

5. Make good the hole in the south aisle wall, where the current system evacuates burned gases, including the appropriate ashlar facing to match the existing building. Remove the stainless steel flue on the north side of the building and make good brickwork and ashlar facing.
