DESCRIPTION:Evensong is a church service that’s traditionally held as th
 e sun goes down\, marking the passing of another day in faith.\n\nIt’s f
 airly short\, usually around 40 minutes\, and features choral music\, read
 ings and prayers.\n\nThe service is introduced by an officiant\, who welco
 mes the congregation and leads prayers\, and it is attended by clergy\, ch
 oir and organist\, as well as the congregation.\n\nMost of the service is 
 sung by the choir on behalf of everyone present\, although the congregatio
 n is invited to join in with some prayers and communal hymns if desired.\n
 \nThe modern Evensong service is based on a pattern laid out by The Book o
 f Common Prayer in the Anglican Church\, and it features choral music\, re
 adings and prayers\, which the congregation listens to\, and either respon
 ds to or joins in with\, depending on the part of the service.
