Church of England Diocese of Manchester St. George, Mossley

Meet our clergy

Fr David Warner (the Vicar) was born into a clergy family in the Midlands. He read History at the University of Leicester and worked at Leicester and St Albans Cathedrals while discerning his calling. Following 6 years working for a railway company, he trained for ministry at the College of the Resurrection in Mirfield and the University of Sheffield. He became the first Vicar of Mossley (with responsibility for the whole town) in September 2016.

Fr David is a Companion of the Community of the Resurrection, a member of the Society of Catholic Priestsa member of the Mossley Town Team, and, with other members of the parish community, is a Governor at each of our church schools. Fr David is married to the Revd Penny Warner, Vicar of St George's Stalybridge.

Fr Ian Brocklehurst (Associate Priest) joined us in November 2018 and works Sundays, and Tuesday-Thursday each week. He grew up in Stretford, and has lived in and around Manchester for all his life, except for five years at the University of Nottingham, where he read medicine. After qualifying as a doctor he worked in the NHS for 31 years, ultimately in anaesthesia. He moved with his family to Oldham in 1997, and worked as a consultant anaesthetist at the Royal Oldham Hospital for 19 years.

Fr Ian trained for ordination with All Saints Centre for Mission and Ministry and was ordained deacon in 2015 and priest in 2016. He served his curacy in Oldham, at Holy Trinity, Coldhurst and Saint Stephen and All Martyrs, Lower Moor. Ian is married to Liz, and they have two grown-up sons, Andrew and Peter.
