DESCRIPTION:St Gabriel's\, Prestwich\, became an independent parish (carve
 d out of the great parish of St Mary's) by Act of Parliament\, which took 
 effect on 26th July 1926.  To mark this centenary\, we will have a special
  Communion Service\, followed\, later in the year\, by our Heritage Open D
 ays Exhibition\, in Church\, telling the story on Saturday 12th September 
 (10 till 4) and Sunday 13th September (12.30 till 4).  The Communion Servi
 ce this Sunday will be followed by the dedication of a Votive Prayer Stand
 \, which will hold candles lit as a sign of our prayers to God.  This will
  be dedicated in memory of Eric Halsall\, and is a gift from his family.
