Hymn - Eternal Father Strong to Save
Prayers of Penitence
We say sorry to God for mistakes and misgivings, for those times we hate our neighbour and for those times we even hate ourselves.
When we have doubted the Christ light shining in our own hearts; Lord, overcome us, fill us with your joy,
and help us trust your word.
When we cannot perceive the path that lies ahead; Lord, inspire us, fill us with courage,
and help us to trust your way.
When we have judged, disbelieved, been cruel and unkind;
Lord, forgive us, fill us with your love and help us seek out your wisdom and love in our own hearts.
May God forgive us, Christ renew us,
and the Spirit enable us to walk in peace, Amen
The Collect for the Day
A readings from the Bible; Genesis 1.1-5 and Acts 19.1-7
followed by a Hymn - Thou whose almighty word.
The Gospel for the Day; Mark 1.4-11
A Short Talk
We declare what we believe:
With the whole Church:
We affirm that we are made in God’s image,
befriended by Christ, empowered by the Spirit.
With people everywhere:
We affirm God’s goodness at the heart of creation, planted more deeply than all that is wrong.
With all Creation:
We celebrate the miracle
and wonder of life,
the unfolding purposes of God, forever at work in ourselves and in the world. Amen
Prayers for others, ending with the Lord’s Prayer, Our Father in heaven .........
Music or Poem
Turn us around, God -
around into your way of thinking, around into your way of oving.
Turn us around, God,
and confront us with Jesus. Baptise our fears with your joy.
Peace to you from God our heavenly Father; Peace from his Son Jesus Christ who is our peace. Peace from the Holy Spirit, the life-giver;
The peace of the Triune God be always with you.
And also with you.
Let us offer one another a sign of peace.
We go now as sojourners in the land,
pilgrims passing through.
we go to accept responsibility for the land
we are passing through.
The kingdom of God is neither here nor there. The kingdom is among us.
