Getting here

During the interregnum (vacancy) following the retirement of the Vicar at Easter 2017, St Aidan's Church will worship on Sundays jointly with its sister church of St Bartholomew's in Cresswell at 10.30 am each Sunday. St Aidan's is one of two congregations in the Parish of Cresswell & Lynemouth and serves the village of Lynemouth. Mid-week communions will continue to alternate between the Park View sheltered flats on Park Road (1st and 3rd Wednesdays) and shared services with our neighbouring parish of Newbiggin (at their Church Centre on Front Street, Newbiggin - opposite the Old Ship). Baptisms, weddings and funerals are held at our sister parish church of St Bartholomew in Cresswell.

St Aidan's original brick-built church/hall, on West Market Street, was built by the Ashington Coal Company in 1925 but became impossible to maintain in good condition and closed for worship with a Farewell Service on Sunday 3 November 2013.

To enquire about weddings and baptisms ('christenings'), please contact the parish by e-mail ([email protected]) or by phone (07960 250497) - or even join us at our Sunday service at Cresswell and get your questions answered over a cup of coffee after the service!
