In view of the new measures brought in to deal with the Covid 19 pandemic +Donald emailed yesterday evening to inform us that all churches must now be kept closed. Staverton church is now locked. This is not what any of us would have wanted but, if the church were to remain open, anyone visiting the church carrying the C19 virus could leave that virus on surfaces which another unsuspecting visitor could touch, thereby spreading the virus.
All church services are cancelled for the foreseeable future including weddings and baptisms. Morning Prayer will now be said by me in The Vicarage. Please, if you have any prayer requests, send them to me by either email or telephone. This includes everyone, not just church members.
The Lent Lunches this week and next week are cancelled. My grateful thanks to those who have hosted or were planning to host a Lent Lunch and my apologies to all those who were hoping to enjoy one.
Unfortunately there will be no Parish News issued this month.
On a positive note - the sun is shining and it even feels warm outside! Enjoy the sunshine if you can but always obey the government guidelines and maintain social distancing and remember prayer really does work. If you don’t pray regularly, now might be a good time to start. Below is a collection of prayers you might like to use.
We pray for all who are affected by coronavirus, through illness or isolation or anxiety, that they might find relief and recovery.
For those who are guiding our nation at this time, and shaping national policies, that they may make wise decisions:
For doctors, nurses and medical researchers, that through their skill and insights, many will be restored to health:
For the vulnerable and the fearful, for the gravely ill and the dying, that they may know your comfort and peace:
We commend ourselves and all for whom we pray, to the mercy and protection of God.
Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
Praying for you all.
