This most unwelcome news has apparently been triggered by a change in financial strategy at the Diocese. The property developer purchasing the option would be responsible for defining a scheme and taking it through the statutory planning process. The Diocese envisages the site being developed into an industrial and logistics park.
The PCC has been very robust in its response to Peterborough and has mobilised support from surrounding communities against this massively inappropriate proposal.
An online petition has been launched. More detail on how you can register your views is provided on https://titchmarsh.info and https://savetheglebeland.org/
The PCC’s formal Representation is being considered by the Diocese and Bishop Donald has instituted a review of the social and economic impact of the proposal. The review group is chaired by Bishop John, Bishop of Brixworth. The Diocese will make a final decision on whether to proceed with the option sale once the review has been completed.
