We cannot gather in one place to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of VE day as I would have hoped. But we can still come before God together in our own homes.
At 2.55pm on Friday 8th May, we are being encouraged to begin the the nation’s celebrations with buglers and pipers playing the last post.
If you do not have someone in your vicinity who is doing so there is a recording here:
The attached service is similar to one I would have led in church. You are welcome to use it at home, by yourself or with your family. Again, videos of the hymns can be found by clicking on links.
The plan is then for everyone to join in a nationwide tea party, The Big Picnic for Hope http://bigpicnicforhope.com/ in their homes or gardens. This is also a fundraiser for the Trussell Trust who run our foodbank on the Isle Wight. If you have the means to share your photographs of this, please share them to our facebook page or send them to me and I will try to post them.
I am gathering memories of VE day and will include them in our weekly news sheet this weekend.
The forecast is that the sun will be shining. I hope you all have a very happy and memorable day.
