 nINTRODUCTION - Please sit\nWe gather early in Cowes Week in this church b
 uilt for sailors\, to \npray for God’s blessing upon the sailing communi
 ty\, on the town \nand on all who come here to spend time in Cowes and on 
 the \nwaters around the island. We remember with thanksgiving those \nwho 
 enable this annual celebration of sea and sail which enriches \nso many li
 ves.\nWe are here today too\, to pray for the sailing clubs\, organisation
 s \nand businesses of this town and to give thanks for all who work \nwith
 in the sailing community on the Island. Especially as we \ncelebrate the 2
 00th year of the Cowes Week Regatta.\nWe will remember those whose daily l
 ives are given to working at \nsea and preserving lives at sea\, and we wi
 ll pray for their safety.\nAnd lastly\, let’s spend a quiet moment thank
 ing God for our lives\, \nand all the many blessings he has given us.\n\nM
  from PSALM 107\nLet us thank the Lord for his steadfast love\, \nfor his 
 wonderful works to humankind.\nAnd let them offer thanksgiving \nand tell 
 of his deeds with songs of joy.\nSome went down to the sea in ships\,\ndoi
 ng business on the mighty waters\;they saw the deeds of the Lord\,\nhis wo
 ndrous works in the deep.\nFor he commanded and raised the stormy wind\,\n
 which lifted up the waves of the sea.\nThey mounted up to heaven\, they we
 nt down to the depths\;\ntheir courage melted away in their calamity\;\nTh
 en they cried to the Lord in their trouble\,\nand he brought them out from
  their distress\;\nhe made the storm be still\,\nand the waves of the sea

 ray.\nAlmighty God we pray to you as the world around us seems to be \nin 
 turmoil\, particularly in Eastern Europe\, the Middle East and the \nSudan
 . We pray for the innocent: for women\, men and children \nwho are killed\
 , wounded and traumatised by the atrocities of war. \nWe pray for those wi
 th power - give them strength to seek lasting\, \npeaceful solutions and t
 o resist the temptations of retaliation\, \ngreed and personal gain…. Lo
 rd in your mercy: Hear our Prayer.\nAlmighty God\, we pray for our Royal F
 amily\, in particular for King \nCharles and Catherine Princess of Wales i
 n their battles against \ncancer\, and for the other members of the Royal 
 Family. Especially \nwe pray for Anne Princess Royal\, here in Cowes today
 \, and for \nEdward Duke of Edinburgh\, who both do so much to support the
  \ncommunity\, charities and yacht clubs of this Island….. Lord in \nyou
 r mercy: Hear our Prayer.\n\nAlmighty God\, we pray for our Government in 
 London and for our \nlocal authorities here on the Isle of Wight and in Co
 wes\, that we \nmay be governed with compassion\, truth and justice. We th
 ank \nyou and will never take for granted\, the safe homes we live in\, th
 e \nplentiful food on our tables and the freedoms we enjoy to believe \nan
 d worship our God\, in our own way…. Lord in your mercy: Hear \nour Pray
 er.\n\nAt the start of this 200th Cowes Week\, we bring before God all who
  \nwill compete in the regatta\, and those who will organise and \nmanage 
 the races. We pray too for the spectators\, and for the \nlocal businesses
  and yacht clubs\, who provide support and \nhospitality. In this church\,
  dedicated to Seafarers\, with its \nmemorial to those who died in the Fas
 tnet Race in 1979\, we \nremember all those who have lost their lives at s
 ea. We also give \nthanks and ask you to keep safe all hose involved in se
 arch and \nrescue at sea…. Lord in your mercy: Hear our Prayer.\n\nDear 
 God\, we pray for ourselves. Give us Courage\, to do and say \nthe right t
 hings\, not the easy things. Discipline\, to be good \nexamples in our own
  lives. Respect\, to treat others as we would \nlike to be treated. Integr
 ity\, to be honest with others and with \nourselves. Humility\, to put oth
 ers first\, me second. And Humour\, \nnot to take ourselves too seriously
 …. Lord in your mercy: Hear our \nPrayer. \n\nIn this special week\, sen
 d us your happiness\, love\, light and \nlaughter. Let our joy of being pa
 rt of your wonderful creation fill \nour hearts and strengthen our souls
 …. Merciful Father Accept \nthese prayers for the sake of your Son\, our
  Saviour\, Jesus \nChrist. Amen\n\nTHE LORD’S PRAYER\nGathering our pray
 ers and praises into one\, let us pray with \nconfidence as our Saviour ha
